Human civilization is indebted to the world of lights. Sunlight or natural light has always been the torch bearer of life and rationality for human beings. In the battle to survive against all adversities, ancient human beings relied on natural light. Soon, they realised the need to explore artificial light.

The discovery of fire by humans is considered to be a landmark event in the history of human civilization, which changed the entire discourse forever. No doubt, fire became embedded in human behaviour and became an integral part of all technologies in the days ahead. In other words, the discovery of fire encouraged humans to think of artificial light.

Ancient men and women lived in caves, where they were vulnerable to animals and insects and natural catastrophes as well. The world of lights gave a sense of security and direction as well. There is no denying the fact that human efforts to understand and interpret the vision and the nature of light have been key to gradual evolution.

From man-made lightsfrom stone lamps burning animal fat to neon, the journey of human development has indeed gone ahead at lightning speed. Discovery of electricity many centuries later was a giant leap ahead to suit the needs of light without combusting fuels. What started in the caves, led to a new revolution in the road ahead.
